Getting a mortgage is too important to NOT get right.
Unfortunately, for a large majority of people out there, it’s a VERY difficult process to navigate. It can be intimidating, confusing, exhausting, and/or VERY expensive. Which often leads to unnecessary stress, adverse experiences, poor outcomes, and lots and lots of lost $.
As someone who has closed over 1,000 home loans for clients since 2006, I have lived and experienced this at a deep level. I did good work, I did right by my clients. But it weighed on me. So I took a multi year sabbatical during 2022 - 2024. And now after several years back on the job and even though I’m operating with a new set of eyes and a more relaxed demeanor, it’s clear as day; these same challenges remain.
Why is this the case?
Because there are meaningful gaps in the way it is approached and navigated from the top. It’s not the consumer’s fault, they are simply trying to make the best of what is available. So it’s up to someone like me, on the front lines, to find a better way.
I’m not talking about the process required to qualify, get approved, underwriting, closing, etc. Those are bound by federal regulation and in place mostly for good reason. And they can go smoothly or be a nightmare relative to the skill and experience of the professionals involved. Not easy, not fun, but necessary and very important.
No, I’m talking about what happens before the application is submitted.
I believe I have found a way to bridge those gaps.
In a way that is:
Powerful. And simple.
Aspirational. And obvious.
Outrageously valuable. And very difficult to replicate.
I wasn’t sure this time would come. And yet, I never gave up hope that it could. Where my ultimate vision for this industry would crystallize into something unique and incredible that would change the course of my career and make an impact for many others. I just figured it would be much sooner and easier.
When I started Transparent Mortgage in 2012, I knew I had found something special. It formed from my own adverse experience and a passionate realization of what was missing in the mortgage industry that imploded 2008 - 2011 and caused so much damage to households and the overall economy. So I created a process around transparency, authentic online reviews and accountability. Which hardly anyone was doing at that time.
I’m both humbled and thrilled at the path I have taken to get here. Especially a huge personal block that was in the way….until it wasn’t. One thing I have always loved about the mortgage industry is how it challenges me to grow and evolve. This vision certainly required that in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
More to come.
